MLS Video Requirements: How to Add a Listing Video to the MLS
Does the MLS allow video? Usually as an unbranded virtual tour link. Here are the rules most MLSs share, the ones that differ, and a checklist before you add a video to your MLS listing.
Short answer: Most MLSs accept listing video as a link in the virtual tour field. The video itself has to be unbranded. No national rule covers this: every MLS writes its own, and the details differ. Use this guide to know what to look for, then check your MLS rulebook before you submit.
Does the MLS allow video?
Generally yes, through one of two routes:
- A virtual tour or video link field. This is the common route. You paste a link to the hosted video, and the MLS shows it and often passes it to portals like Zillow and Realtor.com.
- A direct media upload. Some MLSs let you upload a video file next to the photos. Fewer offer this, and limits on file size and length vary.
The rules most MLSs share
These come up again and again across MLS rulebooks:
| Rule | What it means for your video |
|---|---|
| Unbranded | Show no agent name, brokerage logo, phone number, email or website in the video, on the end card, or on the page the link opens |
| No marketing links | The link should go straight to the video, not to a profile page, a gallery of your other listings or a page with contact forms |
| About the property | The home should be the subject. Avoid agent intros and people who become the focus |
| Accurate | Don't misrepresent the property. Label edits that change what a buyer would see |
Where MLSs differ
- Hosting platforms. Some MLSs reject YouTube or Facebook links because those pages show other promotional content. Others accept unbranded YouTube or Vimeo links. Check before you upload.
- Where the link goes. A few MLSs want a direct link to the unbranded video, with no vendor landing page in between.
- Signs and people. Some ask you to remove or blur yard signs and to avoid identifiable people.
- Orientation and length. Rules on vertical video, length and file size differ. When in doubt, keep it short and follow your MLS's guidance on orientation.
Checklist before you add a video to the MLS
- Export an unbranded version: no logo, contact details or branded end card.
- Host it somewhere your MLS accepts, so the link opens the video directly.
- Check your MLS's rules on hosting, orientation and length.
- Paste the link in the virtual tour or video field and save.
- A day later, check the listing on the MLS and on the portals it feeds.
How ListDolly fits
ListDolly turns your listing photos into vertical reels with real camera moves. Each listing includes an MLS version: the same reel without your branding, made for listing feeds. The required AI-generated label stays on. Keep the branded version for social media.
For Zillow specifically, see how to add a video to your Zillow listing.
Upload your listing photos to make your first reels. Planning is free, and you only use a listing when you generate. See pricing.
